Benjamin E. Murphy (born March 6, 1942, in Jonesboro, Arkansas) is an American actor. He is best known for his role in the television series Alias Smith and Jones, co-starring first with Pete Duel and later with Roger Davis.
He also appeared in a supporting role in The Name of the Game, a series featuring a rotating leading cast including Tony Franciosa, Gene Barry, and Robert Stack. After Alias Smith and Jones Murphy went on to star in his own series Gemini Man, in which he played a character who could disappear through the use of a watch. However, the show didn't run for more than a season. Since then Murphy has been seen in guest starring parts, the most recent being a murder suspect in Cold Case.
Though born in Arkansas, Murphy grew up in Hinsdale, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. An alumnus of Benet Academy in Lisle, Illinois, he attended eight different colleges before setting out on an acting career.
